The electricity came from the hospital’s 645 kW rooftop solar array, which can resist 170 mph winds.

The ability to withstand strong winds makes solar panels highly resistant to damage.

There is a study about the use of solar energy for the resilience of households in Bangladesh against calamities. The result shows that the Solar Home System is considered a coping mechanism against calamities. It avoids power disruptions and decreases disaster damage by 64 per cent. The PV system lessens catastrophe’s adverse effects too.

Renewable energy does not only provide emission-free electricity but is convenient in disaster situations too. It helps communities in mitigation and fast recovery by making disaster-resistant households.
